25. Bourbon Cider.jpg

Bourbon and Cider.

Also known as Steelers Cider Warm Punch.  Originally crafted as a punch by Maker’s Mark for the Steelers 2011 play for the title in Super Bowl XLV.  This simple punch is a play on a Hot Toddy and works well with fresh apple cider.  This recipe is punch sized, but the ratio is basically 5:1 apple cider to bourbon.  Combine bourbon and cider in a medium saucepan.  Add lemon, cloves, allspice, and cinnamon sticks.  Heat over medium heat until the surface almost begins to bubble.  Pour into an Irish Coffee Mug and garnish with a cinnamon stick.

8 ounces Bourbon.

32 ounces apple cider.

6 cloves

1 lemon thinly sliced.

½ teaspoon ground allspice.

2 cinnamon sticks

Garnish with Cinnamon stick.

24. Beer, Bourbon and BBQ.jpeg

The Beer, Bourbon and BBQ Cocktail.

Yes, these three things often work well with each other but all in the same glass?  Who knew such a cocktail would be so thirst quenching and satisfying?  The creation of this cocktail belongs to Tom Fischer and Steven Dennison and was designed for the annual Beer, Bourbon and Barbecue Festivals held in various U.S cities.  An unusual drink that I would suggest trying at least once, I know I did enjoy the mesh of flavours.  With an added step of making the BBQ water this cocktail takes a little forethought.  For the BBQ water take equal parts of BBQ sauce and boiling hot water and mix them well, refrigerate until needed.  I suggest using a good quality BBQ sauce to ensure you have better flavour.  In a cocktail shaker filled with ice add the bourbon, liqueur, orange juice and 3 ounces of the beer shake well.  Strain into a cocktail glass.  Pour some beer into a cocktail shaker and shake until foamy.  Spoon the beer foam on the top of the cocktail and garnish with an orange or lemon twist.

1 ½ ounce Bourbon Whiskey.

1 ounce Honey Whiskey Liqueur.

1 ounce BBQ water.

¾ ounce fresh squeezed orange juice.

3 ounces Hefeweizen beer.

Garnish Orange or Lemon twist.
